Geoducks are enormous saltwater clams that are native to the Pacific Northwest and very abundant in southern Puget Sound. Geoducks (pronounced gooey ducks) are the largest burrowing bivalves in the world and the largest clam in North America.
Geoducks are a species of clam called Panopea Generosa which can reach twelve pounds, but usually average one to three pounds in weight. Their enormous, close to foot-long wrinkled siphon or foot often surprises onlookers by the resemblance to the penis in male animals.
