The capital city of Boise, Idaho was named in the early 1800s when French-Canadian trappers saw the tall green forest trees and a cool running river, after a long dangerous trip, and shouted, "Les bois! Les bois!" ("The trees! The trees!")
The state seal of Idaho is the only seal in America designed by a woman. The Boise statehouse is heated geothermally by underground hot springs. Idaho has many underground hot springs which have become tourist attractions.
The Boise State University Broncos play football on the world's only football field with blue artificial turf, which was first installed in 1986 and became known as "The Smurf Turf". In 2011 Boise State registered their "blue turf". The state of Idaho shares a border with Canada, Washington, Oregon, Utah, Nevada, Wyoming, and Montana.
