FENDER BULLET SERIAL NUMBERS 1981-2005

The Fender Bullet 1 was John Page's first Fender Guitar design in 1981.
The First Editions 1981-1983
The first versions of the Fender Bullet electric guitars were produced in 1981 in Fullerton, California. The serial numbers on the first versions had an E0 prefix followed by five digits, or an E1 prefix followed by five digits. And on some Fender Bullet guitars there was not an E prefix, which designates the 1980s.

The USA Bullet's unique one-piece alloy bridge-pickguard combination cut costs by combining the bridge, pickguard, and providing electronic shielding in a single component.
The Second Editions 1982-1983
The second versions of the Fender Bullet electric guitars were produced in Fullerton, California between 1982 and 1983. The serial numbers on the second versions had an E1 prefix followed by five digits, or an E2 followed by five digits, or an E3 followed by five digits.

In the Early 80's, the thin C-Profile, maple necks on the first USA Bullets were Fender Telecaster necks with a rosewood fretboard.
In the late 1983 to 1984 Squier Bullet manufacturing was moved to Japan and had a SQ prefix followed by five digits. There are also reports of an E series Squier Bullet made in Japan in the mid to late 1980s which has serial numbers beginning with an E followed by five digits. There is also a report of an A series Squier Bullet made in Japan.
In 1985, 1986 and 1987 production of the Squier Bullet was moved to Korea and the serial numbers had an E prefix followed by six digits stamped on the neck plate.

In 1989 Squier produced an updated version, a HST Bullet, this guitar contained the words "Made in Korea" on the headstock with an E prefix serial number followed by six digits.
In 1995 the first Squier Bullet SRS Stratocaster was produced in China. There was not much difference between the first Chinese and the Korean made Bullets.
Squier produced a Chinese-made Bullet in 2005 with a tremolo arm, rosewood fingerboard, and either in Pink, Arctic White, Daphne Blue, Fiesta Red, Brown Sunburst, or Black finish with a single-ply white pickguard.

All USA Bullet Headstock decals show the words Fender Bullet and have a silver star with the number 1 inside the star.
Fender produced a single pickup Squier Bullet Special guitar from 1999 to 2005. All Squier Bullet Special guitars were made in Indonesia at the Cort factory. The serial numbers start with IC followed by two digits for the year and the remaining digits represent the production month, color, and sequence. IC04xxxxxxx indicates a guitar made in 2004.

The 1981 Bullets had Kluson tuners, which were changed in 1982 to the 1970's style Fender F tuners when Kluson Manufacturing went out of business in '81.
The short scale Fender Mustang was made popular by alternative rock guitarists like Kurt Cobain back in the 1990s, but its origins go back to 1964. And now more than half a decade after it was first introduced, the Mustang design is alive and well, and is represented in the entry-level market by the Squier Bullet Mustang. The budget friendly version of the Mustang brings with it the same offset waist, short scale neck, and double cutaway profile, but with a more streamlined approach to its electronics.

The Stratocaster, AKA 'The Strat', is certainly the highest selling electric guitar design of all time having first been released in 1954. The list of famous Stratocaster players is almost endless, but it includes great guitarists of all time including Jimi Hendrix and Dave Gilmour from Pink Floyd.
