The Harmony H1260 acoustic guitar is known for having a huge, booming voice and was one of Harmony's most popular acoustics built during the height of the company's fame in the 1960s. The jumbo flattop acoustic guitar was produced between 1958 to 1971 in Chicago, Illinois.

The Harmony Music Company was one of the most successful makers of guitars in the USA reaching their peak of production in the mid-1960s. Founded in 1892 by Wilhelm Schultz an immigrant from Hamburg Germany, and by the middle of the 60s they were making more guitars than all the other guitar manufactures in America combined.

The H1260 has dot inlays, white button tuners and white binding. It is claimed to be Harmony's best acoustic model. They had a one-piece mahogany back, unheard of in today's acoustics. They are known to create a sound all their own, the same guitar used on the recording of "Stairway to Heaven" played by guitarist Jimmy Page, and you may have even seen Mr. Page playing the instrument.

Led Zeppelin's guitarist has said he composed their first four records on the Harmony Sovereign, which means he wrote rock history on the instrument. Often said to be a poor man's Martin guitar the instrument was commonly sold through Sears & Roebuck.

The late 1960s and early 1970s were hard on U.S. guitar manufacturers because of the cheap imports being brought into the USA and competing with the higher priced instruments made in the United States.

In 1975 the Harmony Guitar Company held a 3-day auction, auctioning off their factory inventory to the public, and the brand name "Harmony" was sold to an Asian company, and then later sold to the Westheimer Corporation in Northbrook, Illinois.
